Piles of Fish!!!! Bottom Fishing, Puerto Morelos

The shit hit the fan "bottom fishing" in the Gulf of Mexico off of Puerto Morelos, Mexico! As soon as we started cutting up bait and dropping a huge sinker with 2 hooks down to the bottom about 50 ft deep you couldn't miss! We were catching fish 2 at a time throwing them over our shoulder and filling 5 gallon buckets with Grunt fish, Yellow tail snapper, red grouper, parrot fish, "porky" fish, this poisonous rock fish.... Our guides didn't even have a pole just a line in the hand like hobo with chicken liver! Nothing big but who gives a shit when you can't even rebait your hook fast enough, can't cut bait fast enough! We were cuttin up fish we just caught cuz we were running out of bait! No time for beer even I had a beer sittin there that I couldn't even touch I knew time was of the essence, it was a riot my mom and sister were catching fish two at a time. We caught something like 60 fish in like an hour maybe more there was no way to tell. Speed fishing for reel!! I couldn't ask for a better first ocean fishing experience!! What a day in the middle of January WOo HOO!! Im out of breath enjoy the pictures....

La Petita

This is the restaurant about a block away from the fishing pier we walked over to with some of our catch from the day they threw our bag of fish on a scale and charged us $10.00 to fry it all up right then and there. It was sweet, more beer this little mariachi band played us a little diddy and we enjoyed the fruits of our labor! Pretty sweet experience all in all...

Trolling off Puerto Morelos

Trolling for barracudas and shit we definitely drank more beer (Sol) than we did catch fish on this little portion of our Mexico fishing outing! It was sweet though I got pics here of the bait we used it was a big dead sardine of some sort with a colorful skirt one on a down rigger two more on out riggers and one more rod. We got like three hits but did not hook into anything. I am sure the fish we missed were barracudas though because they are everywhere down there I saw like 15 or 20 of them when I went snorkeling for like an hour we saw some monsters like 20 or 30 lbs!

Flambeau River. 38" off shore. Top Raider. 40" trolling bucktail. Battery died in trolling motor on the way back. We rowed back to the cabin in the dark during a meteor shower. Never ran out of beer. stopped at a river side campsite and had a huge fire. left it burning. just in case.

Flathead Catfish.

Cool new spot. Great views of the city. No one goes here. Sand beach. Lots of driftwood and boulders. Deep Water. Lots of Current. First flathead ever for me. I was really excited!

Raccoon.

Raccoon eating a carp. He was a hungry little devil. Emphasis on devil.

Upper Eau Claire Lake

Chillin in the boathouse sippin Knob Creek during storm. Very Fun. There was a shrew on my shoe. Picture of oars. John Mower got the 33"er I think it was. Bucktail. Only fish of the trip. Tough conditions. Oh maybe we caught some bass.
